As far back as 10.5, Mac OS X does.NOT.No matter which permissions I set for a file on the server, the Mac ignores them and changes the permissions back to 766. You should be able to connect to your Samba macOS server from either a Linux Client or a Mac Client. The same holds true for departmental accounts and student organization accounts.
